Mt Martha Extension

An extension of a family home to create a new parents and guest space.

Separated from the existing home and creating strong connections to the garden the extension creates an additional bedroom, wardrobe and ensuite.  Designed to accommodate guests, parents, visitors, or a young family the space is designed to suit different requirements over time.

The material selections balance a response to the existing house, a contemporary approach to sustainability, and the coastal conditions.  Sustainably sourced Australian hardwood timbers, natural wool carpet, and internal hard plaster prioritise natural materials that will age gracefully and settle into the garden.

The geometry of the project is shaped by the triangular site at the rear of the garden, the orientation, and views into and across the site.
