Daylesford House
Daylesford House is a home for a young family that moved away from the city some years ago to enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle in Daylesford.
The client requested internal works to the existing part of the house that would maintain the period features and detailing whilst considering the requirements of a contemporary family home with a new addition.
In conjunction with the more private areas at the front of the house, an extension replaces a dilapadated and dysfunctional lean-to. A new open plan kitchen, dining and living space are arranged around an outdoor area that takes in the views of a large existing tree. The modest size of the extension allows ample space for our clients to enjoy a landscape that supports the local ecosystem.
A separate nook has been nested above the new laundry – creating a flexible space for the family with sleepovers, study and working from home arrangements all potentially facilitated through in the multipurpose mezzanine with views over the hillside.
