COLONNADE HOUSE

A house of solidity and fragility.  Off-white concrete walls and ceilings create a powerful material presence and sense of mass.  Large sheets of glazing define a central courtyard that is linked to the interiors with concrete columns supporting a wide eave.  A prototypical structure adapted to the Australian sun.

Four meter high ceilings in the living areas create an impressive sense of volume and generous spatiality consistent with the quiet monumentality of the colonnade.
